Human Concerns

St. Vincent DePaul Society

This ministry was established in 1948.

Our purpose is to provide spiritual support to our members while we serve the poor and less fortunate living within our community.

We meet at 7:00 on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday, September thru May, in the parish office meeting rooms.  June, July, and August, we meet on the 1st Tuesday only.  Meetings usually last 1 to 1-1/2 hours.  We pray and then discuss individual clients that have come to us for assistance.

Adults, 19 years and older, are able to join this ministry.  Individuals who participate must be sensitive, caring, a good listener, and keep our clients’ business confidential.

Training consists of simple non-directive interviewing techniques and learning of the resources capable of helping the individuals we serve.  All training is “on the job” training from one of our current members.

On average, a member of our ministry donates 6-10 hours a month.

On a daily basis all members enjoy encountering and then helping those individuals who need our help.  Also, our “Christmas for Kids” program is always a special event each year.

Simply put, our ministry provides an ability to do Jesus’ work in serving the poor and less fortunate.
