Parish Life

Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Council is a group that exercises a shared responsibility for the pastoral life of the parish, under the leadership of the pastor by:

  1. Researching the needs, ideas and hopes of the parish community.
  2. Encouraging and supporting existing ministries.
  3. Evaluating the quality of life of the parish community.
  4. Planning for the future by recommending policies, procedures, and programs that will implement its values and fulfill the Church’s mission.

We meet for two hours on the first Monday of each month at 7:30pm.  There are no meetings over the summer.  The average commitment is two years and we rotate about one third of the members every year.

An ideal candidate for this ministry would be someone who possesses a certain attitude, because, the parish council works through other ministries.  Members need to have adequate knowledge about the parish and its tasks.  Active membership within a ministry would be an advantage.  Members need to devote time and effort to meetings and committee work and have the ability to relate to other members as a team.  New members will go through an orientation program and all members should participate in ongoing leadership formation.
