Children’s Liturgy
This ministry helps children understand the Scripture at Mass on their level. With a trained prayer leader, they are able to pray and discuss the readings in a way that is meaningful for them.
We meet as scheduled, about every 6 weeks as prayer leader. Presently, this only takes place during the school year at the 5:00pm Mass. Additional volunteers would allow expansion. We meet in the Church conference room with the children.
An ideal candidate for this ministry would be good with children, have a love of scripture, and have good communication skills. A candidate must be at least 18 years old and have a criminal background check as well.
Time commitment is leading the session during Mass and about 30 min of preparation on your own(scheduled about every 6 weeks).
Training for this ministry involves a leader’s manual that guides you through each session. In addition, observing a session is strongly encouraged and an experienced prayer leader will meet with you to answer questions, etc.
Being involved in this ministry makes me feel good by knowing that you helped children understand the scripture and be more comfortable at Mass. I love whenever a child is excited about scripture.
